Village Counseling and Assessment Center provides couples therapy for same gender, mixed gender, married, dating, interfaith, intercultural, separated or divorced couples. Couples therapy differs from psychotherapy in that the relationship is the focus of attention, instead of the individual. Couples therapy focuses on the problems existing in the relationship between two people.

For many couples exploring issues common to all couples — communication, intimacy, money, and parenting — when they are further complicated by homophobia, heterosexism, and lack of the legal protections and advantages of marriage are key aspects of the treatment.

In couples therapy, the psychologist will help you and your partner identify the conflict issues within your relationship, and will help you decide what changes are needed, in the relationship and in the behavior of each partner, for both of you to feel satisfied with the relationship.
